Lützerath

The German village of Lützerath has become a symbol of climate resistance. Located not far across the border from Roermond, the village serves as a backdrop for climate activists fighting against lignite mining. The village is slated to be demolished to make way for the mine. Activists are opposing the extraction of this polluting fossil fuel. Following a court decision, the village is being cleared by police and riot forces.
